Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element):
Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Normal supervision is supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISIONABILITY TO INTERPRET INSTRUCTIONS, SPECIFICATIONS ETC. (INCLUDING BLUEPRINT READING)Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentKNOWLEDGE OF EQUIPMENT ASSEMBLY, INSTALLATION, REPAIR, ETC.Knowledge of MaterialsTechnical Practices (Theoretical, precise, artistic)USE OF MEASURING INSTRUMENTS (MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL, ELECTRONIC, AS APPROPRIATE TO LINE OF WORK) PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Works from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms where areas are hard to reach. Work requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling and climbing and may be performed in cramped positions, under equipment, structures, etc. Frequently required to lift and carry parts and items weighing up to 50 pounds. Other tasks require the ability to lift up to 100 lbs. with assistance. WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in a variety of conditions. Work is completed on but not limited to scaffolding, high ladders or rooftops subject to dangers such as but not limited to falling, exposed to possibility of burns, cuts and bruises, broken bones or infections. May work in inclement weather to perform duties including but not limited to surveillance of project, various inspections, boundary marking, special events, and emergency situations (respond to public accidents, drowning). Works in conditions of dust, welding fumes, paint vapors and sandblast particles utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment for those conditions which may be heavy and uncomfortable. Works around water.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
